When asked if I'd like to contribute to the 2nd round of the ever popular Quentin vs. Coen art show, I wanted to try something obscure since several artists seemed to focus on the same films (myself included). For those that may not know, Tarantino wrote the original screenplay for NBK. It was heavily revised to the point that Tarantino hardly claimed it, however there is the connection...it was his baby. As a big fan of the film I saw this as an opportunity to deviate. I was 16 when NBK was released and I vividly recall the explosion of violence, the unique delivery, the amazing soundtrack and overall emotional roller coaster. Regardless of how many times I've seen it since, it still has the same affect on me. NBK is a perfect storm of comedy, horror, drama, and art...and it was a pleasure to commemorate. I also feel obligated to add that Rodney Dangerfield was robbed of an Oscar!

It is with great honor that I mention that we just sold some of our Sexual Chocolate posters to the one and only writer/director/producer John Landis. For those that don't know, Mr. Landis not only directed Coming to America, but he's also responsible for classic films such as Animal House, Blues Brothers, Kentucky Fried Movie, etc. I should also add that he directed the "Thriller" video which scared the shit out of me as a kid...still does kind of.
As such a big fan of his work, I decided to create a small drawing to include in his order. This is that drawing. Don't expect the same treatment Michael Bay!!

May I introduce , by far, the single greatest creation ever produced by State of Shock Studios (well, I get half the credit). On September 25th everything changed and I couldn't be prouder! My baby girl might disallow sleep in the Shock headquarters but she more than makes up for it with her ridiculous cuteness. Behold the glory that is my offspring...and look out world!!

Have a dark passenger? Want to set it on your desk? Now you can with this FREE downloadable paper toy!
I wanted to pay homage to one of the smartest shows currently on television. Aside from the brilliant writing and magnificent casting, there's something unique and fascinating about siding with a demented, serial killing character. Dexter forces the audience to acknowledge dark, primal emotions that basically force you to root for a psychotic murderer. There hasn't been a show like that since Everybody Loves Raymond. The paper toy is quite easy to assemble, so feel free to print one out and put together your very own vigilante serial killer. Harry would want you to.

This is a poster of my beautiful expecting girlfriend designed for our baby's nursery. We are going in later tonight to poop people (actually she'll do it, I'll just be supervising). So it's safe to say that the next time I post I'll be a father...YIKES/YIPEEE!!

I recently went back to my hometown to watch my nephew play football. I somehow managed to squeeze in a brief visit to my dear mother's suh-weeet swimming pool (hey thanks for waiting until I moved out to obtain such nice things)! As the fall nears I already miss the dog days of summer. And although I tend to only go outside twice a month, I prefer the option to wear a tshirt and shorts when I do. Also don't leave your phone in the hot sun...that is a stupid thing to do.

We would like to introduce the second print in our Greatest Side Characters in Cinematic History poster series. "Carl" was an easy decision for several reasons. The first being that he might be the most quotable character of all time. Also Bill Murray's ingenious improvisation of this character is a major component as to why this film transcends generations and holds up as arguably the greatest comedy of all time. Hardly any of his lines were scripted which seems absurd considering how well he pulled it off as well as how impactful Murray's small role was. Honestly most of the characters in this film could make this list as they are all basically side characters played by several legendary comedians in their prime.
"Carl" is an 18x24", 3 color screen print and is a limited edition of 50. Only $25, be sure to grab one HERE before they're gone.

We were recently commissioned to design a small run of 13x19" posters to announce to family and friends the birth of little Ann Erwin. I have to say this was a great idea and fun project. As an expecting father myself, I believe I shall be doing something similar very soon. If anyone else is interested in poster size baby announcements, just email the studio and we can discuss details.

Today we released the final poster in our print series of baseball legends. Potentially the greatest of all time and considered the first five tool player, this poster is entitled "The Five." It's a 13x19" giclee print and is a signed and numbered limited edition of 100. It is also only $15 and available here.

Here's a drawing from right field at Great American Ballpark in Cincy. My folks were in town for a few games and not particularly caring who won, I thought I'd get out the old sketchbook. Unfortunately for them, their Cards lost both games we attended. Thankfully they're more mature than I am when my team loses...so we still had fun!

Here's the last poster created for one of our favorite clients...Yonder Mountain String Band.
It was explained that this was to be a predominately west coast tour so I focused on a traveler lost in the desert. Each sticker on the traveler's suitcase is indicative of every location of the tour. A limited edition of 400, there are a few remaining artist proofs available here.

To get things started I thought I'd post an oldy. One of my favorite and most influential artists, FZ had the uncanny ability to combine beautiful and meticulously structured music with absolutely absurd lyrics. That combination has always appealed to me and is present in much of my work. I created this paper toy in his honor.
